December Daily, Day 21

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 21

Today we made salsa. Yummy!
It takes a lot of time but is SO worth it!
Taylor was busy with some new adaptive toys that she got so she was not interested in helping today.

The kids really enjoy helping with anything in the kitchen! This time they helped cut (and eat) the tomatoes and the bell peppers.
December Daily 2010 ~ Day 20

Tonight I went to Canton to do some Christmas shopping with my stepmom and little sisters. (Who are not so little anymore!)

We always have a blast when we are together.
There is lots of laughs and silliness!

I was even surprised with a candle and a couple shirts for my birthday! Thanks ladies! :o)

December Daily, Day 19

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 19

Tonight we went on a pajama run! We made homemade pizza and then got the kids all tucked in bed. After Brian loaded the van and we were ready to walk out the door, we were armed with pots and pans and made lots of noise as we yelled "Pajama Run"!!!!

Everyone in this house knows what that means and we piled into the van.
Tonight we went to Oglebay!

December Daily, Day 13

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 13
This is what it looks like outside today.

This is what it looks inside today.

Everyone is working at staying warm because we have NO HEAT!
Frozen gas line. Yuck.

December Daily, Day 12

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 12

Every year the kids and I spend an afternoon with Grandma Sharon. My grandma is so special to me and I look forward to this day every year. It is one of the highlights of my Christmas Season!

We went to Walmart and let the kids look around. They show Grandma a few things they want for Christmas. Then she takes them to look for a small toy (and a surprise for mommys birthday) while I grab what they wanted.

This is grandma being VERY patient as she helps each one of the kids pay for their small toy! The easiest thing would have been to just let grandma pay but that is not near as much fun.

Then we went to Bob Evans for lunch.
They even sang me Happy Birthday and I got an adorable snowman candle holder!

And of course, Grandma always makes it extra special.

I cant forget to add the small toy grandma bought for the kids.
That was a fun car ride home. ;)

December Daily, Day 11

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 11

Today we made ornaments for a homeschool exchange. We got a little behind on making them but they are finally done and mailed!! Whew!

Five in a Row is a literature based, unit study homeschool curriculum. We made our ornaments based on the book, The Rag Coat
by Lauren Mills.

December Daily, Day 10

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 10
Most of the habits that the kids have are good ones but lately we have had some not so good ones creep up.
Since they are not being disobedient I was brain storming to find something that would reward them for trying to quit these bad habits.
So I came up with these money jars.
At the beginning of the week everyone starts out with the same amount of money and each time that do their bad habit they lose money from their jar. At the end of the week whatever money is left they get to keep!
Good Luck Kids!

The kids had a blast playing in the snow.
They have an amazing imagination. :o)

Taylor does not get very excited about playing in the snow.
Every once in awhile she will ask to go out but she likes warm weather much better!

December Daily, Day 6

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 6
Today we watched The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey.
What a great movie!
The movie inspired Alyssa, Carter and Morgan to carve
something out of wood.
I am not sure what Alyssa made. She said it was a secret.
I'm sure I will find out soon. ;)

Morgan got tired of trying to carve and finished up with markers.
She made a horse.

Carter made a cross.
He now wants a wood carving set for Christmas!

Daddy even joined in on the fun!
I'm not sure what Taylor was doing.
She did tell me she had no desire to carve anything. :)

Saturday evening is Family Night! We always have homemade pizza and play games. It is a time that everyone looks forward to!

Its fun to have traditions and we have quite a few in our home. :0)

We make the dough from scratch and even made and canned our own pizza sauce. Every once in awhile the kids even get to have pop! :P

December Daily, Day 3

December Daily 2010~ Day 3

We had a long day today. So I picked up McDonald's for dinner and we watched Rudolf, The Red Nosed Reindeer.

I didn't realize until tonight, the kids had never watched this movie.

After the movie, Carter made himself a beard out of paper and a make shift sled out of cardboard. Alyssa and Morgan were reindeer and pulled him around the house as he shouted, "HoHoHo"!

December Daily

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 2

For the last 5 years we have started our Advent season reading, Jotham's Journey. I love this book! It is an absolute favorite for all of us.

Every evening of Advent we sit down as a family and read. Some nights the kids are piled on the floor, some nights everyone is on mommy or daddy's lap and some nights we have cookies and milk!

This time is so special to me. No matter how many times we have read through this story, at the end of that days reading I hear, "Oh man" or "We can't stop there. Just read a little more, pleeaasssssse"!

Tonight, Taylor was cuddled with Bobo, Alyssa was crocheting her scarf, Morgan was cuddled on the couch with her stuffed animals and Carter was nice and comfy on the floor.

Happy December!

Last year a friend of mine did something she called "December Daily". Every day for the whole month of December she posted a collage of what they did that day or something special related to their fun December activities as a family.

I really enjoyed and looked forward to seeing what she would post on her blog that day! I love watching how other families enjoy the holidays.

This year I decided to steal her idea. Hehehe....:o)

So starting today I am going to post my "December Daily".

December Daily 2010 ~ Day 1

This is the first year I have ever had a real Christmas tree. Brian always had a real tree as child.

This year he decided I was going to get my real tree! He didn't stop at that, we went and cut it down ourselves! Despite some obstacles it was a great time and we plan on making it a family tradition.

Brian called around for prices and places that the wheelchair could make the trip. He chose a place called Hidden Valley. It was an older gentleman that lived alone. Most of his trees were overgrown. So these were 30ft. pine trees! What he was doing was having people cut them down and then cut off the top 5-6 ft.

It turned out great. I have the most beautiful tree in the world. :o)

Go check other ladies doing the December Daily!

I Heart Faces ~ Pets!

We would love to have a farm some day. Nothing too big or fancy. More like a hobby farm. For right now though we live on a funny farm! We have a goat, 8 cats and kittens, a few goldfish and a service dog for my sweet Taylor.

At any given time we also have snakes, salamanders, spiders, bugs, toads, turtles, or a stray worm or two. So is the life of a homeschooling momma! :P

So in other words, we have a lot of pets that I could torture as my subjects. LOL!

I decided to go with this picture of my sweet Tay Tay and her service dog, Bobo. I love the sweetness and joy on Taylor's face. He is more than a pet for her. He is an amazing friend and companion.

June...so far

We have had a busy month. Which is why I haven't had the time to post about any of our fun. So I decided to get caught up by including it all in one post. That isn't cheating, is it? =)

Carter and Morgan turned 8. That was a very hard birthday for me. They are my babies and they are not babies any more. They matured and have grown so much in the last year.

It is such a satisfying time in my life. It is so much different than when they were little. They needed me in different ways. Now they don't just need me, they want me. They choose it. They talk to me like they are big. They involve me in everything they do. They want me to see what they are making or doing. I love it.

They are best friends.

Mommy and the birthday twins!

We had a nice little party at Nana and Papas. So we definitely had to fit in some Wii fun!

And some trampoline fun!

As they have gotten older we have tried to plan special times for all our kids birthdays. They really don't NEED anything so we would rather make memories as a family than try to find something that they will only play with once. =)

This year Morgan decided to go to Pittsburgh Zoo. Carter choose to go camping for the weekend. Next weekend is our camping trip.

As soon as we got to the Zoo Morgan lost her tooth! She is now only a one toothed Saber toothed Tiger. lol!

Here are some pictures of our day.

Alyssa loves her tigers!

Isn't this the cutest little guy!

We have also had lazy summer days.

And imaginative summer days....
Here is Carter making a weapon! :P

Not sure what he is going to do with it after he makes it but he sure did put a lot of effort into it!
