My Speech ~ To Devin and Krissie Berry

Good evening. For those of you who do now know me. I am Miranda, the big sister to the glamorous bride. I want to start by congratulating the bride and groom and then to thank all of you all for coming out to help us celebrate this special night.

When Krissie asked me to be a bridesmaid, I felt very honored. As the big day approached I was informed I would be giving a speech and toast. I tried to get out of it, mainly because I now I will not make it through this without crying but have any of you ever tried to tell Krissie no?! Well, here I stand.

When I look at this couple, I feel a wave of different emotions. I am very happy for them and excited to be a part of their lives as this new chapter being. But I have to admit, I am a bit sad that my little sister is all grown up! I know that Krissie has found an amazing man to share her life with and Devin, you are a lucky man!

You both have a wonderful adventure ahead of you and with Gods blessing a lifetime together.

I decided I wouldn't tell any embarrassing stories about Krissie or Devin but I will say they are a perfect match. Devin is easy going, easy to talk to and after watching him with his little nephew, Tristan is going to make a great daddy someday. Devin, we welcome you into our family.

Krissie, you are so beautiful tonight. I want you to know how special this day has been for me. Being so much older than you, their is a part of me that feels as if you are my own. We have shared laughter and joy. Sadness and tears. Difficult times and happy memories that I cherish in my heart.

I thought about some words of advice I would like to give to the bride and the groom. I came up with some secrets to a happy and lasting marriage.

Always put God first.
Have a sense of humor and a short memory.

If you are clever, you will always have the last word.
If you are really clever, you will keep your mouth shut.

When you are wrong, admit it.
When you are right, keep it to yourself.

Devin, remember...a happy wife equals a happy life.

My greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years, your love will only deepen. That years from now you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day you loved each other the least. I wish you the very best.

Please raise your glass as I toast my sister and her husband.

Take each day and cherish your time together. Love one another and stand together always. Take time to talk. Put each other first.

So here's to love, laughter and happily every after! CHEERS!
