Alyssa turns 14!

Today is a special day. My sweet, beautiful Alyssa turns 14.

Unbelievable.

When I look at her I still see my baby. Even though she is a young lady. Sometimes, I even see myself.

Everything about her has always been easy. Labor and delivery. Her newborn days. Toddler time. All of it. She is actually my strong willed child. Hard to believe. She is very strong willed but she has loved God since she was could talk.

She walked early. She talked early. She loves to create. She has taught herself to sew, crochet, knit, play the violin.

She has a heart that is full of so much passion. When she loves you, you know it. Daily, she reads about men and women in prison for Christs name. Daily, she sends emails to politicians for their release. She is tough. She can help dad with just about anything. She looks stunning all dressed up.

The girl can read. And read. And read. She will pick up a book and have it finished before the night is through. She keeps a flashlight in her room to read in case she can't sleep in the middle of the night.

She is up at sun rise. She can usually be found at the table doing her bible study or curled up on the couch reading a book.

She forgives quickly. You wouldn't know it now but when she was little she was terribly shy. She would hide behind me to avoid the Walmart greeter. Now she is a social butterfly but still reserved at times. She loves to talk. She doesn't like new situations with new people at first.

She dreams of being a wife and mommy. She looks forward to it with all her heart. She helps me. Oh does she help me. She cleans. She does laundry. She helps with Taylor. They are best friends. They stay up late talking at night.

She has a hilarious sense of humor. Once she starts laughing she usually has a hard time stopping. She picks on her brother. She knows she has to get it in now because soon he will be able to take her. She loves vegetables and sweets. Her favorite meal is mexican alfredo casserole.

She is almost as tall as me. She steals my clothes.  We like the same color nail polish. She is full of life with a lot of energy.

She is growing up on me. I loved when she was little but I love now too. I get anxious to see what God has in store for her. She is unbelievably special to me. I love being her mom and sharing this time with her. We enjoy woman to woman talks and she makes me want to be a better person.

I love you, Alyssa Nicole! Happy 14th Birthday!
