Random 5 ~ May 31st

I am very sorry about last week. It was a crazy week. Thanks for be patient with me.

So can you believe it is the last day of May!? I can't. I have that feeling of so much to do and so little time. I think this week my Random 5 is going to be easy. My mind is overloaded!

1. We went camping over the weekend. I posted all our pictures but I did not tell you how much fun we had! It was just what our family needed. We got away from all the stuff that needed to be done and we just enjoyed each other! We fished. We had smores. We stayed up late. We hiked. It was just awesome!

2. While we were gone a frost hit our house! I had all my tomatoes and peppers in the ground and I was not home to cover them! Such a bummer. I lost everything. Makes me want to cry.

3. I am pretty excited to be done with our traditional school year. We are still schooling through the summer though. We are focusing on a few trouble areas, doing reviews and a lot of fun stuff!

4. I am working on a Summer Bucket List and I'm SO excited about some of the things we are going to do! Stay tuned for posts about all kinds of fun!

5. I slacked on my running and drank way too much soda and junk food over the weekend and this week! I felt much better the last few weeks. I need to get back on track!

Please consider linking up! I would love to read your Random 5.

The rules? They are simple.
~ Link to your Random 5 on Friday post.
~ Add a link back to me somewhere in your post.
~ Please make sure to put the direct link to your blog post not just your blog. I like to read and comment on all of you but I can not always do it right away and I do not have time to look for it. Thanks!
~ Visit, Visit, Visit! Have fun encouraging each other. :)

Letting Go

Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go

I actually have a few topics that come to mind when I think of the term "Letting Go".

I think about my son. I think about how hard it is going to be to let him go. Some day a new woman will come in to his life and she will take my place. And she should. This process though is NOT easy. I can already see areas where I have had to slowly let him go and he is only 10! I have to back off and let him grow up into a man. A manly man because no woman wants to be married to a mommas boy! (I am secretly or maybe not so secretly happy that no one will take my place with my daughters!)

I think about letting go of the past. I have been hurt a lot but I have had to just let it go. If not, I would be a depressed mess. Letting go is never easy but neither is the alternative.

I also think of letting go of expectations! There are so many areas of my life that if I did not let go, I would be a crazy woman! Lets take laundry for instance or a tidy house that is only lived in a few hours a day. It just ain't happening! How about money. Ha! One income is not easy. We do not have the best of everything and if I did not let go any expectations I had of vacations and designer clothes, I just might lose my mind.

Songs That Make Me Remember

Day 29, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post

I love music! So many songs can take me right back to a certain moment in my life. Here are a few of those songs. This is gonna be fun!

1. Michael Bolton. Ahhh....Who doesn't love a little Michael?! This takes me back to being a kid. I have memories of driving from my Grandparents house and my dad playing the tape over and over. He would sing and me and my brother would sing right along with him.

2. Alanis Moresette. Takes me back to being 16! Driving around in my best friends truck and getting into trouble.

3. Garth Brooks. So many of his songs mean something to me. I could listen to him all day!

The Dance. I listen to this when I am missing my Grandpa Lyle. We danced to this song at my wedding. They played it less than a year from that day at his funeral.

Shameless. I love to sing this song at the top of my lungs. It reminds me of my sweet husband.

4. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. Ah....this takes me back to the first few years of my marriage. What a wonderful time!

I have come up with so many more that I would LOVE to share but I'll just give you one more.

5. The Old Rugged Cross. This makes me a bit teary eyed every time I hear it. It takes me back to being a young girl, riding to church and listening to Grandpa Bobby and Grandma Sharon talking. If I close my eyes I can smell his cologne and feel the peace I felt then. Life was so easy and innocent. Not a care in the world.

Well that was too much fun! This has been my favorite post all month. :)
