Wordless Wednesday ~ July 31st

Are you tired of my flower/garden pictures? Give it a month or two. ;)

Beauty Captured

Beauty Captured is my personal journey to find beauty in the day to day. It is not difficult to find but many days can be over looked way too easily. In my search for beauty, I will take a picture every day and post it here.

Beauty can be defined in so many ways. Messy faces, sunsets, piles of dirty laundry, smiling children....the opportunities are endless! The goal is to get out there and capture those moments. Savor them. Remember. Find joy in the beauty.

I would love it if you would join me! Every day I will post my picture. At the end of my post will be a link up. You can link to your picture through your blog, Instagram or Pinterest. You do not have to feel overwhelmed and link up every day. Just do it when you can. No obligation. Even if I have days I am all alone, thats okay. The link up will be there when you do post a picture!

No need to have an expensive camera. Any camera will do the job! Use your imagination. Be creative, Search for beauty!

I only have two rules.
#1. Only link to your picture. If you have a few words to say about it...great! Do NOT link to a blog post that may contain a picture in it. Make sense? Let's keep it simple. Daily picture easy to find.
#2. Family Friendly, Modest pictures only! All others will be deleted. I know different people have different modesty levels but lets just try to veer on the safe side of any pictures posted.

If you do link up with Instagram or Pinterest you can always hashtag it with #beautycaptured and that way we can find each other easier. I have a few buttons that you can use if you would like but it is not mandatory. You can find those at the top of this page in the tabs under what else but..."Beauty Captured".

If you have visited my blog for very long you know that I LOVE taking pictures. It is my passion. That being said I am no professional. So there will not be any advice giving going on. I can help with what I know but I promise that is not all that much. I am still getting comfortable my camera settings! In my search for beauty, an added bonus is USING my camera a lot more. So I am hoping to teach myself a thing or two and I will definitely let you in on the things I learn as we go.

So are you as excited as I am? I have been excited all month waiting for August to roll around. I have been busy with all the fun details like Beauty Capture buttons and of course, talking my husbands ear off about my new journey. So starting August 1st I will begin this new journey! Will you search for beauty?

If you are planning on joining, would you please let me know in the comments? Maybe even introduce yourself a bit. I would love to get to know everyone better and be able to encourage you in your search for beauty in your life.

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch ~ Week #2

Come chat with me on the Farmhouse Porch!

1. Are you looking forward to fall? YES! I love fall. Right now in Ohio it already feels like fall. I would love a few more hot weeks before we actually roll into fall but yes I love it! Pumpkins, campfires, apple butter, changing leaves...love it all!

Everyday Ruralty2. What are the three best colors for you to wear, and the three worst? Well, Brian always tells me I look wonderful in pastel colors especially pink. He has also mentioned white and black. I'm not real sure of the worst. Real bright colors maybe and I have noticed brown makes me looked tired sometimes.

3. What is your favorite kind of juice? Homemade grape juice! We make it every year and it is the best!

4. Have you ever been in the hospital (at least an overnight)? When all my babies were born. :) I was in the longest with Taylor because she was born at 31 weeks (her stay was a whopping 28 days! *sad*) and I had an emergency c-section.

5. Do jingles, songs from ads, and TV or movie themes stick in your head? Do you find yourself singing them? (This question means that I'm trying to find out if I'm the only crazy person who sings quirky stuff!) I sing ALL the time. I kind of drive my kids crazy. Just yesterday one of them said "How do come up with a song for every thing we say?" Totally cracked me up! I really do just belt out songs at weird times. In the hospital, the store, at home (of course!) and...well just about every where else. I am good in church! I only sing along with everyone else. :)

Happy Tuesday!

Super Sweet...Who? ME!

I still think it is the the coolest thing ever that I actually have people that read my blog! Every time I get a comment or email from one of you lovely ladies it makes me a tad bit giddy. So when I got the nomination from Kim over at Garden Tenders for the Super Sweet Blogging Award, I was kind of beside myself! Thanks so much! That was super sweet of YOU!

This is a neat little award because once you accept your award, you nominate 13 sweet bloggers! How much  fun is that? What a great way to support each other and spread the word about your favorite blogs.

Oh and there is a little questionnaire that just makes this the all the more fun. :)

Are you ready for all kinds of sweetness. Here we go...

Rules and Regulations:
1. Thank the Blogger who nominated you (How could I not?)
2. Answer the 5 Super Sweet Questions (Talking about sweets? Sure I would LOVE to!)
3. Include the Super Sweet Blogging Award in your post (Done)
4. Nominate a baker's dozen (13) other deserving bloggers (Eek..how exciting!)
5. Notify your Super Sweet nominees on their blog. (Will do!)

Five Super Sweet Questions
1. Cookies or cake? Both?  Really? Do I have to choose! Okay, okay....cake.

2. Chocolate or vanilla? Yes, please

3. Favorite sweet treat? Strawberry Cream Pie

4. When do you crave sweet things the most? Umm....just about all the time. That is normal, right!? Oh and when I have spent too much time on Pinterest!

5. Sweet nickname? Brian calls me everything except my name. Babe, usually. Baby, occasionally. Honey, even when he is mad. (It makes me laugh)

My Nominations
 1. Rebecca @ Renaissance
 2. Sarah @ Amongst Lovely Things
 3. Renata @ Sunnyside Farm Fun
 4. Marcy @ Ben and Me
 5. Dawn @ By Sun and Candlelight
 6. Candace @ His Mercy is New
 7. Missy @ Its Almost Naptime
 8. Erica @ Large Families On Purpose
 9. Kelly @ Generation Cedar
10. Tesha @ Tesha's Treasures
11. Kerri @ Your Wishcake
12. Karyn @ Teach Beside Me
13. Sarah @ My Joy-Filled Life

Now I realize that I nominated some pretty cool and important women that probably have too much to do that accept my award and that is okay. I still had fun with it! It was pretty easy to choose my bakers dozen. These are the top 13 blogs that I visit on a regular basis. They are the ones that make me a bit excited when I see an update. Yes, I know..I have problems. Its alright though because I can honestly with out a doubt tell you that each one of these women have influenced my life as a Christian, Wife or Mom (Sometimes even all 3!) And of course, they are ALL pretty sweet.

The Pebble Pond

1. I had so much fun doing a little blog redesign this week. I spent so much time doing it but I have to say, I am pretty excited with the end results. I even came across a pretty cool website to create blog buttons. It is a blog button generator. You put your information in and it gives you the code to add to your blog. Easy Peasy.

2. In less than a week, my new blog hop....Beauty Captured....will be starting up. I'm pretty excited. Here are the details if you don't remember or haven't heard. I am still trying to come up with a really great button for it. I'm kind of at a loss. I was thinking something with a camera but I would like to incorporate the new birdhouse logo. Not sure. Any ideas?

3. You know how last week I was complaining about the heat. Yeah, well this week has been the complete opposite. I actually had to put a sweatshirt on the other day. Weird.

4. Canning season is upon us. So far I have done banana peppers, which is a first for me, and pickles. Today I am making hot pepper mustard. Yum. I must admit it is kind of nice canning in this weather!

5. I woke up this morning to the most wonderful smell. French toast! The smell was even sweeter since I wasn't making it. In case I have not mentioned this recently....I have some pretty awesome kids.

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

I was searching for homesteading blogs the other day and came across the blog that hosts "Chats on the Farmhouse Porch". How can you NOT join with a title like that!? I mean come on...farmhouse (my dreams are getting closer by the day), chats (you know I love to talk) and porch (be still my heart especially when you have a farmhouse porch cause we all know that is way better than just an ordinary porch).

Everyday Ruralty
So basically every Tuesday, Patrice posts a few questions regarding all kinds of difference things. Answer the questions and link up. Wanna join with me? I'd love if you did.

1.Do you use any type of water filter (pitcher or sink mount)? Yes, our well water is nasty. So we have a Pur water filter that we keep filled up in the fridge. Except when a few unnamed little ones do not add water to it when they take water.

2.Do you have any tips for staying hydrated in the warmer weather? I try to keep a water bottle (a cute one, of course!) filled all the time. If I do not do this then I find myself just grabbing a cold can of soda.

3.Is your hair naturally curly or straight? Straight!

4. Are you on top of all the chores/work you do, or are you always running behind? Ha, I am always running behind. Is it even possible to actually be caught up on everything? If it is, I must have missed that memo that taught how to do that! ;)

5. If you could sing a song to Wendell, what would it be? Probably the theme song from Mr. Rogers because as I type that is what my daughter is watching and I'm thinking that song is now going to be stuck in my head ALL DAY LONG.

Random 5 on Friday ~ July 19th

Hello! Thanks for being here and an extra special thanks to those that link up every week! I love reading what you guys come up with each week.

1. It is HOT here. Like can't breath, sticky, sweaty HOT. We don't have air and our house feels like an oven. So what did I do? I bought us a pool.

Then I bought sand. It would not be a good idea for anyone to ever let me level anything.

After I was covered in sand and sweat, I decided to let the kids swim in an uneven pool. Hey, it still cools right? Guess what daddy gets to do this weekend. (hint, hint...I know you are reading this)

2. I have cucumbers! I'm a little excited. This weekend we will be making pickles!

3. My flowers are all in full bloom. I have so many that I grew from seed. Love it!

4. I entered my monthly photo contest. The theme was self portrait. I had a million ideas but not much time. After brainstorming and scanning the internet for ideas this is what I came up with. Whatcha think?

Oh and you can vote for me! July Photo Contest

5. God has really laid on my heart the importance of encouragement this week. Do you need encouragement or prayer. I would love to pray for you. Just let me know!

Alyssa Nicole ~ 13

Alyssa turned 13 in NOVEMBER. Yes, you read that correctly. We discussed making her bundle up and pretend it was cold but she doesn't like having a winter birthday anyway. :)

It is a bit hard to believe that I have two teenagers but they are so much fun. I love it.

I don't think I can sum up Alyssa in a few words. She is a girl all her own. She is a thinker and a creator. She thinks and feels very deeply. She loves to document things and talks about moving to Togo to be a teacher. Well that or California. She teases about that is such a big difference. I think I know where she will end up but I love listening to her dreams. Dream big, I tell her.

She loves the Lord and is a bit shy. Until you get to know her. Then she will talk and talk. She loves to tell stories and write books. She hopes to publish a book some day and I don't put it past her.

She struggles with wanting to be in control but I watch her control that urge at times. She does not like to be the center of attention.

She is a blessing to me in so many ways. She helps me around the house and care for Taylor. She adores reading and always has a book in her purse.

It has been an amazing journey watching her grow into a young lady. I can not wait to watch her grow into adulthood. I'm just praying I can be the mom she needs me to be and the journey goes by really slowly. I don't ever want to forget the way she makes me smile. The innocence of her heart. The way it feels when she still reaches out to hold my hand.

Mommy loves you, Alyssa Nicole.
