Random 5 on Friday ~ May 30th

Is it really the end of May already!? Hard to believe, isn't it? Truthfully, I can't even believe it is Friday again. Not that I mind.

Here we go for another completely random post.

The Pebble Pond

1.It is lilac season. I love every single second of it. A storm came through and blew a bunch of them off but the smell is still wonderful. We have a huge bush right outside our bedroom window. Brian's allergies can not stand lilacs. So he has a love/hate relationship with them. Me its all love! When he leaves for work, I open the bedroom window and then wake up a few hours later to the wonderful bliss.

2. My parents were going to name me Randi Lou. Randy after my dad. Lou after my mom. They decided to go with Miranda Lou instead but I still get called Randi Lou. My mom always calls me that and even a few friends from high school. I love it.

3. I told myself I am not going to buy flowers. We may be moving there is no sense in it. Then I went to the store. There was this flat of flowers on clearance. It called my name. They are purple and white. They look beautiful by the steps. *sigh*

4. Brian and I started reading Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs together in the evenings. Such a good read.

5. I had a dream last night that I was a super hero. Seriously, I could freeze people and everything. This is the second time I have had that dream. Hmmm.....

5 Random pictures. Just because.

Random 5 on Friday ~ May 23rd

The Pebble Pond

1. I had to make some changes around here. I sat down and made a list of ALL my commitments. Then I started crossing things off. When I was down for my leg it really put a damper on things. I got behind on everything. I am pretty much caught up but it was a rough year anyway. We are going to have to school through the summer to get caught up and I just really had to reevaluate everything I was doing.

One of those things I had to stop was Beauty Captured. It makes me so sad. I was so close to a year and I made some really good friends that linked up with me. Wendy has graciously decided to taking over for me. So if you are interested be sure to jump over to her blog and check it out.

I also stopped doing the 100 Happy Days. I know, I know...how hard is it to take a picture. Well it wasn't that it was hard but once I got a bit behind, I was always scrabbling to get caught up and it just made me grumpy.

I honestly feel better all ready. I feel free to just take pictures when I want and not have to stress over it. I feel free to relax a bit. Does that make sense?

2. Searching for a house is trying.

3. Have you every heard of Geocaching? You have to check it out. The kids and I have been having fun with it. We even have a cool name....HalfDozen. Hehe...I love it. You can check out the website but basically all over the country there are these little boxes that are hidden. Inside the boxes are logs to sign and sometimes little trinkets that you can take or leave one yourself. I downloaded the app and you can look at the map of any area. Follow the clues and find the box. Its like a big scavenger hunt! Fun!

4. I have been in such a good mood lately.

5. I bought 3 new bottle of nail polish (they were on clearance) and a new pair of sunglasses today. Aren't they cute? :)

Random 5 on Friday ~ May 16th

The Pebble Pond

1. Mice. I absolutely hate them. I can do all things country except mice. We have only had (that we know of) a few mice in the 8 years we have lived here. Until now. We catch at least 1 every night for the last 3 nights. There are not actually in the house but in the sunroom. Which technically is the house but still....YUCK!

2. I have worked out 2 days in a row and it feels great! I was scared at first. I wasn't sure if it would hurt my leg or irritate it but so far, so good. Yippee!!

3. Mothers Day was wonderful. Pictures soon! Unless you are friends with me on Facebook. Then you have already seen them. :)

4. I love Little House of the Prairie! Watching it as I type. I can't pick a favorite character or episode. Its all just so good.

5. Being part of the TOS Crew is such an amazing experience. The women are wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. I had so much support while I was down with my leg. Prayers, emails, messages. They made me feel so loved. All the wonderful products I have received has been such a blessing to me. It is just a wonderful experience. Thank you ladies.

100 Happy Days!

"B" is for Books

Of course, right!?

I was not much of a reader growing up. I sure am now! My kids love to read and for that I am very grateful.

Here is my pile right now....

Our family read aloud right now is The Red Keep by Allen French.

Our lunch time read aloud (just me and the kids) is The Giver by Lois Lowry.

I am reading aloud Family Fragrance by J. Otis and Gail Ledbetter with Brian every evening. I have already read it twice. I absolutely love it!

On my nightstand sits....
~ So Much More than Sexy by Mark Atteberry (Second time and highly recommend)
 ~ My Homeschool Mom's Bible
~ The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace (Second time)
~ Family Feasts for $75 a Week by Mary Ostyn

I just read whatever strikes my fancy when I have time. :)

Random 5 on Friday ~ May 9th

The Pebble Pond

1. Its almost midnight and I can hear birds chirping!

2. I stopped all antibiotics and went with a natural remedy. Yep. I did. Don't worry I have been on the antibiotics for...oh...15 days or so. I didn't stop mid cycle. I couldn't take it anymore. The infection was coming back so I was prescribed a FOURTH (and last over the counter for staph!) antibiotic. I couldn't take it. So far, so good.

3. Do you have any plans for Mothers Day? I am trying to put in my requests. I will let you know how that works out next week. :)

4. Baby Shower! In 8 days! Can't wait.

We talked to my sister through Skype yesterday. (If you don't remember, she is Germany.) Her belly is the cutest thing I have ever seen. She is so tiny. Think like maybe 90 pounds, 4'9 (I think). Tiny. When she stood up so I could see her belly, I couldn't believe it. Her belly is huge compared to her body. I love it! I just want to reach out and touch it! Actually I kind of do through the screen. Hey, its the closest I can get.

5. I am craving Taco Bell.

{Beauty Captured ~ 275/365}

A is for Appreciate

Being out of commission for over a week helped me to realize a few things. Actually I already knew them so I guess it REMINDED me of a few things.

First of all, life can get messy. And you know what? Its okay.

I had to sit with my leg propped up. Watching as life went on around me. Watching as the sink filled with dishes. The floor slowly being covered with....everything really. At one point I remember looking around and seeing a banana peel, Lego's, a dirty plate, Hobbit movie case, dirty clothes, clean clothes, a hairbrush, a bottle of ketchup, an empty bag of potato chips, shoes and books.

I wanted to get up and clean it. I wanted to tell the kids to clean it. But I didn't. Life gets messy. It did eventually get cleaned up just not on my time scale and it really was okay.

Instead Brian rubbed my back. Instead the kids sat at the edge of the couch and talked to me. Instead I read while my whole family was gathered around me.

I was also reminded why I train my kids. The night I was told to go to the hospital to be admitted, I explained what was going on to them. After a few questions they immediately started helping to gather anything I would need. Even beyond that...anything that Taylor would need while we were gone. All I had to do was to take a quick look to ease my mind.

We waited for Brian to arrive home from work and we were off. The whole family. To the hospital. We all sat in a very tiny room. Yes, all 6 of us. They stayed with me until midnight. Went home (except Morgan. We had a sleep over!), slept, came back at 10 the next morning and sat with me until I got discharged at 6:30. They never complained. They just wanted to be with me. They were never in the way. They didn't whine. We even were complimented on how wonderful they were being. The nurses may have spoiled them a bit.

Last...I realized that I do not take the time to appreciate my husband like I should. He literally ran the house while I was down. He did everything I asked of him. He did things I didn't ask of him. He went on 2 hours of sleep some nights. He took over everything....like it was nothing.

His looks are only a bonus! ;)

The thing is, we have had our ups and downs. Sometimes the downs seem to overtake the ups. I love him dearly but sometimes I forget how much. Life gets so busy for me that I don't take the time to actually see the ups.

Being stuck on the couch for days, made me actually see what was going on around me. Instead of playing a game of "He loves me, He loves me not"...I was forced to be upfront and personal with all the "He loves me's" that he was (all along) throwing my way.

So I guess you could say not everything that came out of that miserable time was bad. I really was bombarded with the realization that I take things for granted. So my intention now is to continue to appreciate the things around me. Even though I am not stuck on the couch. Hallelujah!

Random 5 on Friday ~ May 2nd

1. Life can finally resume. Today I went to see the doctor for the last time (hopefully!!) for this infection. That was a very long and hard battle that I don't ever want to go through again.

2. Prednisone makes me evil. Seriously.

3. I am excited to jump back into life. I have to start over on saving money and exercising but I am ready to jump in with both feet!

4. I have an amazing husband.

5. We are throwing a baby shower for my little sister that lives in Germany. I am so excited! I love planning parties. :)

100 Happy Days
 Planting!

Yum! I was spoiled while I was down.

This is what happens when we end up in the kitchen together

My last doctors appointment for this stupid staph infection! (Can you tell I am so over it!?)

Learning an instrument helped pass the time!

This is what happens when I am down for the count and Brian cuts his own hair. Close enough!

Having to get up in the middle of the night and sit up for 30 minutes had its perks. ;)
