Random 5 on Friday ~ June 25th

The Pebble Pond

1. It is 65 degrees at 11pm on June 25th in Ohio. Weird, I tell ya. Just weird.

2. I have decided to start having Sunday dinners at my house. Which means I need to keep my house clean. It is not clean. Summer is a hard time for that! There is so much to do. My to do list keeps getting longer instead of shorter. Oh well....I need this.

3. Our little rabbitry is growing nicely. I got a buck Wednesday for breeding. Well..I didn't realize he was too young! He is a big rabbit so I just figured. Oops! I am still learning.

On a side note...I sold a rabbit today! These babies are our first batch and are a bit on the small side for eating. So I am trying to sell some and add some money into the "I will always need more rabbits fund".

4. My hair is FINALLY starting to grow back out. It has probably grown a few inches already since I got it cut. Luckily, my hair grows fast.

5. We are taking the kids to a rodeo on Saturday! FUN! None of us have ever been so we are pretty excited. :)

I can't wait to hear from you!

Homemade Pizza Crust

Every weekend we have a family pizza night. Sometimes it is on Saturday and sometimes Sunday. It just depends on what is going on that weekend. Family pizza night consists of pizza and games. Every once in awhile we watch a movie instead of a play a game. That depends on the week we have had. One thing stays the same, we always have family night.

Since this has be going on for about 5 years now, I have pretty much mastered pizza crust!

Homemade Pizza Crust
(makes 2 pie crusts)
1 3/4 cups hot water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 tsp. yeast
1TBS. honey or sugar
4 1/2 cups all  purpose flour

Mix together water, oil, salt, yeast and honey. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Add flour. Knead for a few minutes. Dough should be smooth and well formed.
Let rest, covered for 20 minutes.

Separate dough into 2 balls. Spread into pans. Top with pizza sauce, cheese and all the toppings you want!
Cook @ 425 for 15 -20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

*We always make one stuff crust and one regular. To make the stuff crust we just push the crust high along the edges and line the outer layer with cheese. Then fold the crust over over the cheese.

*On our stuff crust we add a butter/garlic mixture to the crust. I melt 1/2 cup butter and sprinkle in a bit (usually a lot) of garlic powder. I add this to the outer layer (over the stuff crust) when the pizza is about 95% of the way done. Then pop it back in the over for a few minutes.

*I like to make and can our own pizza sauce. Unfortunately, we usually run out way too quickly! So I buy the generic pizza sauce and spice it up a bit. Usually adding a tad of sugar and parsley.

Monday Evening Daybook ~ June 22

 Today is June 22, 2015 @ 11:15pm.

I am finally getting time to sit down to do today's daybook post.

Outside my window....
It is dark except for an outside light above the driveway. I can see it through the kitchen window. It is windy. It is supposed to storm. The breeze feels amazing coming through the windows.

I am thinking....
about my day. I feel like I didn't get very much accomplished but I have been busy all day.

I am thankful....
that my kids did the dished without being told after dinner. I walked in from doing outside chores and it was such a blessing to see a clean kitchen.

I am wearing....
Comfy pants and a tank top....PJ's. I believe that is what I was wearing last week! Are we seeing a running theme? I was dressed today. I promise.

I am creating....
a beautiful duck enclosure! I will post pictures once it is completed!

I am going....
to be intentional about "pausing", "smiling" and "listening" to the kids tomorrow. I feel like I was so busy today that I just rushed through everything.

I am wondering....
if the washer is ever going to stop! I am up waiting to throw Brian's work clothes in the dryer.

I am hoping....
to get the kids school books in order for their assessment this week.

I am learning....
all.the.time. No really, I am. Today I learned that the largest mushroom weighed over 70 pounds and was found in Ohio! I also learned that if I leave dinner on the stove and talk to hubby, it will burn. Oh wait...I already knew that.

In the garden....
is a lot of weeds. I saw a few peppers today and my potatoes are doing amazing this year! My watermelon...not so much.

In my kitchen....Menu Plan!
Monday ~ Cheeseburgers & Cubed Potatoes
Tuesday ~ Pork Chops, Salad and Fried Potatoes
Wednesday ~ Chicken Salad
Thursday ~ BBQ Chicken
Friday ~ Spaghetti

Random 5 on Friday ~ June 19th

Hello! Thanks for stopping by.
Have you been here before? Is this your first time linking up for Random 5 or have you been here awhile? Let's get to know each other!

The Pebble Pond

1. I love me some BBQ chicken. I could eat it every single day. Guess what's for dinner?

2. Fridays are usually errand days for us. Every other week we pick up Brian's paycheck, go out to lunch and grocery shop. On the other week, we usually hit the library and any other thing we need to do in town. How about you? What does your Friday look like?

3. The kids got their first job. Picking strawberries! They loved it for about 30 minutes. They worked for 5 hours in the heat so I am pretty proud of them. They got paid per quart. They lost track of how many they picked. Payday is being anxiously waited for!

4. I need to make out a summer bucket list. I have all kinds of things I would like for us to do this summer swarming around in my head!

5. We have had so much rain this week. Truthfully, I am not complaining. I have not had to water my garden!

Join us!? I would love to hear your randomness! :)

Just a hello

Can you believe that I have blogged 3 a ROW?! Pretty amazing, right? I thought so too. It is so important for me to get my blog back to what I wanted it to be in the beginning. Capture memories and record them. Not to make friends. (Although that is a nice bonus!) Not to make money. Not to have a huge following and be known. I wanted to take pictures of our life. To capture beauty. Life as it happens. Record those memories.

I wanted to be able to look back 10 years from now and read about how my tomatoes died (ugh!) and how we ventured into our own little farm. I want to remember what we had for dinner and how important family night was.

So that is just what I am going to do and I hope you enjoy this journey with me.

The farm is bustling with new life. Flowers are popping up here and there. Kittens are starting be underfoot. Brian would say that is a bad thing but the kids love it. I am more of a dog person myself but Slate is my buddy. He is beautiful. Something about those blue eyes.

At the moment we have 6 adult rabbits and 19 babies. It seems like a lot to type it out but not so much when you actually see them and their cages.

Tomorrow is our weekly auction trip. The kids and I have been going for a few months now. We have yet to miss a week since our first time. We are kind of addicted. We buy an assortment of things....produce, flowers, berry starts and of course, rabbits! I'll let you know what we come home with tomorrow. Have a great night! :)

A Monday Morning Daybook

So in my attempt to start blogging more I decided to join in a weekly Day Book Monday post. Its pretty simple really. I have a few online friends that take part in this and I actually really enjoy reading their posts. So what a better way to get this blog back up and running, right? I thought so.

Outside my window...

It is sunny. And hot. I am not complaining though because I can see my tomato and pepper plants enjoying the sun. We have had rain for 2 days so they are sprouting up! I wish I could say sprouting like weeds but I think the weeds still win in that department.

I am thinking...
I must get outside and move my ducks. We moved them down into the chicken pen a few weeks ago. We have been having the hardest time with predators. Only with the ducks though. I am going to move them back up by the house today so they get a little more attention. I want social ducks!

I am thankful...
for a hard working husband! He has been working overtime plus all the farm work. He is pretty wonderful.

I am wearing..
My PJs. Don't judge.

I am creating...
a clean house. Does that count? There is not much creativeness(is that a word?!) going on right now.

I am going...
nowhere. Absolutely nowhere and I love it! It seems like all we do sometimes is run here and run there. Today we are staying home!

I am wondering...
if I will ever get caught up.

I am hoping...
for a date night soon. Brian and I were trying to get a date night in once a week but that is so hard to do. Especially right now.

I am learning...
how to run a farm and a home at the same time.

In my garden...
I *think* I am done planting. I planted corn late so I am hoping to get a late harvest. We shall see.

In my kitchen...
I started this early this morning but it is now 6pm. Right now, I have oven fried chicken, fried potatoes and green beans cooking.

In the homeschool room...
Not much at the moment. Alyssa is continuing her schoolwork on her own through the summer. Today she was able to get every subject done. I am working with Taylor, Morgan and Carter on some subjects this summer. But it is a pretty relaxed schedule.

One of my favorite things...

Today one of my favorite things is help. My kids. My husband. They are such a blessing!

Random 5 on Friday ~ June 12th

Hello! I am glad that you are here. Lets get on our Random 5 for this week. It is has been a busy week here. How about you?

1. My babies turned 13! That means I have all teenagers. That should be illegal. I am not ready for all teenagers. Not because I don't like teens but because I love me some babies. I am working on that part!

2. Alyssa started a fundraiser to get Taylor a stroller! I am so proud of her. If you are interested in hearing the whys and hows you can follow this link.

3. It is hot! I am not complaining. I am not complaining. I actually love the heat but I think I have just been so buys trying to get everything done that I can't enjoy it. I'm just hot.

4. We have been feasting on pineapples! Just about every day. I love them, they are healthy and I got them cheap. Its a total win!

5. Remi and Taylor have become best friends!

First Day ~ June 2015

There have been a few times I have thought about giving up on this blogging thing. I love doing it but I seem to be lacking in the time department. Then I look back over the years of blogging and I truly, truly want to keep recording our life. It is so important for me.

So one thing I am going to make sure to do each month is the First Day post. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these posts. They are so much fun to remember. :)
